Get to Know Me

I’m passionate about creating inclusive spaces where job seekers can thrive. With a decade of experience in higher education and student development, I’ve guided countless individuals in their career journeys. As an equity and access director at a career center, I focus on ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of career development. As a fellow first-generation college graduate I get it and used my lived experience to advance career equity.

Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to fostering equitable opportunities and guiding individuals towards their professional aspirations. My work is grounded in a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by first-generation individuals and recent graduates.

 

Advising and Mentoring for Career Success

I guided undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni in their career development and planning, teaching job search strategies, including resume, cover letter, interview preparation, networking, and salary negotiation. I also co-developed and taught the career courses in different universities.

Professional development and community engagement

My service on multiple boards allow me to grow my knowledge, give back, build community, and contribute to the enhance of the field. 

 

Career Counselors' Consortium Northeast: Career Counselors’ Consortium Northeast board member for 4 years. As a board member I help guide the strategic engagement around professional development for the members of the organization. I led the team that created the mentorship program, an initiative focused on championing and professional connections of folks from marginalized communities. I also lead the DEI committee and have use this role to develop how we learn to curate content based on identities and the different heritage of our members. 

Nigerian Professional Group: In line with my commitment to student engagement. In the last two years as a board member, I serve as the chair of the student relations and scholarship. I collaborate with the board and volunteers to support student facing initiatives. E.g. in the fall of 2024, we will be launching the inaugural mentoring program as well as our first-ever career conference.

Professional Committees: I have also contributed to the work of the National Association of Colleges and Employers through representation on committees. Member 2020-ongoing. DEI committee (2020–2021) Principle and Ethics Committee (2022-2023)
